Biology Teacher Karl Laroche Awarded $80,000 Pôle Interordres de Montréal Partnership Grant

The Vanier College Research Office is pleased to announce that Biology Department faculty member, Karl Laroche, recently received a PIM grant for the project entitled, Supporting Students with Disabilities: Implementing Learning Simulations in CEGEP Biology Laboratories for Differentiated Learning and Improving Academic Achievement.

The project aims to design, evaluate, and implement differentiated interactive simulations, grounded in a universal design for learning approach, to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities and improve comprehension and retention of abstract biological concepts.

In order to meet its goals, the project forges a collaboration between Vanier College, l’Université de Montréal, Concordia University and EduQlasse, bringing together a multidisciplinary team of CEGEP biology teachers, university biology instructors, students with learning disabilities, psychoeducation professors, programmers, and artists.

Congratulations to Karl Laroche and partners for being awarded a grant in response to their significant and ambitious proposal; we look forward to learning about their project milestones and impacts over the next two academic years!
